Pre-College: Foundations of Drawing: After-School Studio Art Program

This course teaches students foundational drawing techniques and skills. Students will learn about important drawing concepts and create strong pieces for their portfolio. Students will learn about: shape, proportion, line quality, form, light and shade, depth and perspective, and composition. Students will work from observation in PAFA's historic Cast Hall with a concentration on still-life, perspective, and cast drawing. Classes will include guided demonstrations, as well as individual and group critique.

Learning how to create a portfolio
All necessary art supplies will be provided to students by the program. This program is designed for students who are excited to develop their artistic skills. All students in this program will be offered guidance in applying to art school and developing a portfolio.
Students should register for this course if they are committed to developing their art. Consistent attendance is required and will be rewarded with opportunities for scholarships and discounts for additional classes.
