Young Artist Academy: Intro to Animation
Learn the art of motion and explore storytelling techniques with the animation programs, tools, and equipment used by industry professionals!
This foundational animation class is a great introduction for young artists newly interested in the medium, or a way for those with prior knowledge to continue building their skills. Students will complete numerous projects that concentrate on different skills such as number morphs, walk-cycles, and stop motion that will introduce them to digital art practices and continue to build their traditional drawing foundational skills. Class is designed for like-minded students to make friends and collaborate with each other in a creative setting. Prior animation experience not required, but basic understanding of computers will be needed!
Saturday Studio Art: Oil Painting: Portfolio Preparation
This class is for high-school students of all abilities and experience levels, from novices to veterans.
Explore the vibrant possibilities of oil painting and deepen your understanding of the two-dimensional visual language through time honored methods taught at PAFA.
In this class you will learn about a variety of materials and techniques including painting supports, preparation of the historical and contemporary oil mediums, use of brushes and paint chemistry.
Learning Objectives:
Students will understand color mixing of prismatic hues and earth tone colors
Students will be able to apply the systems of additive and subtractive color to their work
Students will be able to apply a variety of taught oil painting techniques to subjects such as still-life, the cityscape, and nudes.
Please bring all supplies on list by first day of class - note that supplies are not included in this course

Discover the timeless art of clay and ceramics in this hands-on class designed to ignite creativity and craftsmanship!
Perfect for beginners and experienced young artists alike, this foundational course introduces essential techniques such as hand-building, wheel-throwing, and sculptural design. Students will create a variety of projects, including functional pottery and decorative pieces, while learning the fundamentals of shaping, glazing, and firing clay. The class encourages experimentation and collaboration in a supportive, creative environment where like-minded students can connect and share ideas. No prior ceramics experience is required—just bring your enthusiasm and willingness to get your hands dirty!
